Let it go

Let it go, let it go!
Can’t hold it back any more.
Let it go, let it go!
Turn away and slam the door.
I don’t care what they’re going to say.
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway

If the above verse does seem familiar, it is an excerpt of the song “Let it go”, from Disney’s popular hit, Frozen.

To be honest, I never quite knew the lyrics to the song, except the part where it goes … let it go, let it go…… However, having watched the movie, I did figure that it was quite an inspirational song, especially the parts where they actually play the song. (remember the part where Elsa finally escaped from the castle and was happy living freely without the constraints?)

Anyway, I chanced upon the lyrics to the song and just thought… wow….

The target audience for the movie was originally for kids (so the songs as well, inspirational, yet succinct). But we adults should certainly take some reference from it.

With a brand new year ahead, there are certainly many things that we should let go.

Sometimes, we are trapped in the ghosts of the past, too fixated on a certain goal or ambition, that we failed to assess whether that is really best for us. Make 2017 about letting go those negativity and stress and working on creating new paths and goals for ourselves.

Of course, taking the unconventional route sometimes might welcome certain not-so-pleasant remarks. But hey, guess what, people can say whatever they want to say, it’s not as if you are committing something against your conscience. Tongues will forever be wagging, whether you achieve a milestone or failed a subject. You can’t control these things. Let it go.

Some said that it’s easier said than done. Well, I never said it was easy. And I have yet to let go of many things to life. However, once you have that change of mindset, you will feel extremely liberating.

Sometimes, it only takes a small mindset change to free up your life.
