Have you ever wonder the purpose of your existence in this world? Is it to go through the so called “holy template” of leading a fulfilling life by doing the following; study hard when you are young, get a good job, save some money, start a family, have kids, buy a house, work hard then retire 40 years later at the age of 65 or above? Upon retirement then you start to enjoy life. Sounds familiar? This is perceived to be “normal” to most people but to me this is nothing more than just a routine. Maybe there are really people who loves routine in their life, but I personally think that too much routine in your life is boring and uninteresting. What a strange way to live our life!

Your “routine” could be being caught up in the rat race, engaging in the herd mentality or any other things that is repetitive in nature with a certain amount of predictability. But I’m seeking something significantly different from most people which is to get out of this routine and start living a life that is fascinating to me every second. A life which I would never regret living as to me life is suppose to be an adventure. I do not wish to be too caught up by this “routine” that I actually never really live. The routine is the enemy of your time, your time tend to fly by very fast in a routine and before you realized, a decade or a lifetime had passed. Many elderly people mentioned how their life went by in a flash and suddenly they are approaching the end of their life. They thought that time were on their side and yesterday feels like they are just 18. They usually end up with a lot of regrets on their death bed and wish they could have done more.
When we were kids, everything you encounter in your life seems fascinating. Anything new triggers your brain and the chemistry brings out the wonder of fascination. But as you age, you figured out how all these stuff works or you could recognized a certain pattern in it. These tend to become routines and fascination slowly withers away with time. And we tend to follow a proven routine that works rather than use our creativity to find another way to do things. Routine kills off creativity.

If you could recall in one of the scenes of “The Matrix” when Keanu Reeves was choosing between the red or blue pill, he took the red pill to find out whats beyond the imaginary world that they are living in. Everything in that world is a routine and everyone perceive that they are leading a “normal” life. I might regret it like what Keanu feels later in the show but at least he did try to find out if there are anything else beyond just living a “normal” life. He would rather die trying rather than doing nothing at all. This movie kind of resonate very well with me a few years later that we might really be living in a matrix. Do you feel the same way?

As I am writing this, I’m commuting to work in a train on a usual working day, whereby I start work at 9am and ends at 6pm if nothing urgent crops up, then I will commute back home. This will repeat from Monday to Friday and then we have a short weekend to recharge. After which everything repeats again, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade except for a few annual vacations that we might take. I definately do not wish to spend the rest of my life in an office cubicle going through this routine as I have a “Big Plan” in mind that I will be sharing with all of you very soon. I want to bring back all these fascination and creativity we had when we were kids. Have you ever wonder if there is an alternative way on how you could live your life other than being embroiled in this routine? We should be living our dream instead of a routine life. Routine kills time. What do you think about routines?

  1. Amusing thought.

How can you be sure that the ‘real world’ is not just another form of the matrix? Maybe some human produce biofuel more efficiently in this setting so the machine simulated one? What’re there beyond taking the pill? Hiding from the machines and fighting the agents? Warping in and out of matrix? Talking to Oracle?
In matrix 1, they are exciting. By matrix 3, they are routine.

    What make Neo’s life meaningful?

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The thing about all these is we do not know really know what is happening behind the scene. Personally, I think it’s worth finding out as compared to just sitting around doing nothing. The thing is we need to break this current routine so that life will be more fascinating. It might be for better or worse but it’s worth trying to find out. In my case, it is striving for financial independence. I do not want to be too embroiled in this endless pursuit of having more money that we forgotten life can actually be live simply at low cost and little stuff. Thats why we started this blog.
